Women’s Fellowship luncheon

Women’s Fellowship luncheon is February 28th at 12:30. Cost is $3.50.
Reservations are necessary and need to be in by Friday 24th,

call Dot Harrington-248-585-3457.
The program will be Debra Ball speaking on women’s finances,
“How to keep your money and investments safe”. In this age of identity theft and
cyber scams as well as death and divorce this program should be if interest to both
men and women. You may learn something to pass along to your children and
grandchildren. The speaker will start about 1pm. If you cannot make the luncheon
you are welcome to come then and no reservation needed.

Ash Wednesday Service

On Wednesday, February 22, we will gather at 7PM in the sanctuary for our Ash Wednesday service. This day marks the beginning of the season of Lent, 40 days leading up to Easter. We will remember Jesus, his commitment to head toward and into Jerusalem, to the crowds, the cross and the tomb. While a somber subject, we will gather to reflect quietly on all this can mean for us as we serve God who loves us so. Ashes will be available for those who want them but are not required in our service. We will share at the communion table that night as a central part of our service. The invitation to our communion table is an open so please know you are welcome.

Recycle Ink Cartridges

Save and donate your used ink cartridges to our church. The cartridges are taken to a local office supply retailer who credits our church $2.00 for each one. This past year we earned over $200.00 which we used to buy office supplies for our various programs. Put your used ink cartridges in (or atop, if they are too large) the marked box under the coat racks next to the Fellowship Room door. All types of cartridges are acceptable: any brand, for any type of printer or equipment, any size, black/white or color.

Literary suggestions/Valentine dedications

Hello all!

There is a new display of books to review in the Social Hall. This list of 35 books was drawn from comments collected at previous coffee hours. Many thanks to all those who took the time to participate before. Now, these books have a one-page summary with them, and a clean sign-up sheet to draw more comments. These books are intended to add to the sabbatical experience for all of us. As such, the sign-up sheets again give two options; the left-hand column asks for comments about why you think I should read that particular book to benefit all of us at FCC, and the right-hand column asks you to sign up if you would like to also read that book as part of this process.

If you would like a list of the books and their one-page summaries, please e-mail me at minister@fccro.org, or just look at them in the Social Hall where they will be in display until February 29. You will find them on the stage and one long table near the Outreach bulletin board. I look forward to sharing these books and your thoughts!

While you are in the Social Hall, take a few moments to review our Valentine board, a collection of thanks and celebrations of many individuals and groups in our congregation. There are still hearts available to add your own thoughts as we weave together this display dedicated to our strengths. Thanks to all those who have offered a heart or two already!

Safety diligence required

Hello all,

I am sorry to report that at least one church family reported that someone entered their (unlocked) car in the FCC parking lot and rummaged around. Nothing major was taken but some spare change and small items disappeared. Just a reminder to lock your doors, even at church.

Did anyone else see anything unusual in the parking lot? Did anyone else find something missing in the car after worship or the budget meeting? Please contact me at minister@fccro.org if so.

Mens “Breakfast Club”

Please join us for breakfast at Jimi’s Restaurant of Royal Oak. We will be gathering together at 8:00 A.M. every Saturday morning. This is a great opportunity to meet & greet new friends. Good conversation and great food. Jimi’s is at 714 South Washington just North of Lincoln.
