Faith is a Journey

Board of Christian Education

The Board of Christian Education encourages spiritual growth for all ages, from nursery through adults.  Sunday School is held weekly during the regular Sunday Service.  Church school classes are designed to encourage children to develop and explore their faith in different ways, depending on their ages, interests, ad abilities.

Babies and toddlers, through age three, are cared for in the nursery on the first floor.  Pre-school and kindergarten age children meet in the large, well equipped room at the end of the hall, also on the first floor.  Since these two classes begin at 10:30 a.m., parents may take their young children directly to church school before attending the worship service.  Students in first grade through high school attend the first part of the service with their families and then go to their classes in various areas on the second floor of the building.

Students in first through eighth grades experience church school using the Workshop Rotation Model.  They study Bible stories in workshops upstairs that feature drama, art, cooking, computers, music, games, and videos.  Their curriculum is written by the FCC curriculum design team, with guidance from the minister and the Director of Family Ministries.  The senior high school class meets in the youth room and incorporates current faith issues and events into their class studies.

Pilgrim Fellowship is provided for 6th. through 12th. grade students.  They meet on Sunday evenings during the school year for Christian Fellowship in a safe, secure and loving environment.  The youth have opportunities to attend weekend retreats state wide.

In the Covenant Class, held every year under the guidance of the Minister, eighth grade students explore their faith and commitment to the Church.  The class culminates in a ceremony celebrating entry into Church membership.
